The 29-year-old’s contract was due to expire at the end of the current campaign, but his form has seen him rewarded with a new extended contract with an option for 2027.

“I think halfway through last year, we saw a completely different Paddy,” veteran back-rower Farrell said.

“We saw some really big performances from him coming off the bench and having an impact like an impact player should do.

“And this year he’s continued on and been one of our standout forwards coming off the bench.

“I’m really pleased for him.

“He’s a very likeable player and everyone loves him within the group so I’m really pleased to see him re-sign for the next couple of years.

“I know Matty (Peet) loves him and he is always pushing him to perform.

"Just to see him develop the way he has done, sometimes it takes overseas players a year or so to develop and he’s definitely done that and he’s been one of our standout players this year.”

It means only four players are known to be without deals beyond the 2024 campaign, with some of the club’s biggest names such as Bevan French, Jake Wardle and Jai Field having also recently penned new long-term deals at the newly named The Brick Community Stadium.

Farrell, contracted until the end of next season, has highlighted the importance of the squad stability, having won every trophy available under the tenure of head coach Matt Peet.

“It’s important because you’re going into the next season knowing that nothing much has to change,” Farrell added.

“We’re going to have this squad for the next few years now and that’s a really big positive for the club and we can build for the future.”
